Automation and Control Engineer
Position Summary
The Automation and Control Engineer provides support in the integration and development of ETAP Real-Time Enterprise application.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To support Integration of ETAP Real-Time Enterprise applications
- To set up communication network for SCADA type applications
- To provide field commissioning & support
- To perform power system analysis and design
- To support ETAP development activities including product support, software testing, and other related tasks
- Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, vendors, and others in a courteous and professional manner
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
- Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 5 years hands on experience relevant to electrical power systems and automation engineering
- Working knowledge of industrial and utility electrical systems control and protection
- Understanding of substation automation and SCADA \ DCS systems
- Experience in DCS and SCADA communication networks and protocols
- Working experience with PLC and PLC programming
- Knowledge of communication protocols (DNP, IEC, Modbus, ...)
- Capability to utilize standard engineering and mathematical concepts and principles in the design, coding, and testing of software components
- PLC experience required. Experience mapping PLCs to SCADA or DCS systems is a plus
- Must have ability to work with design team and vendors to develop and implement Factory Acceptance and Site Acceptance testing of PLC based monitoring systems that are integrated with electrical relays, overloads, and hardwired IO
- Responsible to support cutover team and plant to assure that electrical information and function properly throughout
- Must be able to communicate effectively. Must demonstrate a willingness to take ownership of product design initiatives, be Self-motivated with a desire to work in a small, energetic team.
- Experience with ETAP Enterprise System is a plus
- The following experience or knowledge is desirable: Real-Time Control Systems or other EMS systems, C / C++ / C#, Visual Basic, SQL 2000, Data Historian (PI, AspenTech, etc.), Shell Programming, Network Monitoring Tools, TCP/IP, VB.NET.
- Strong analytical skills for use in response to technical queries from customers
Education
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering (power elective courses required)
- M.S. in Power System Engineering (preferred)
