Power System/Application Software Engineer
Position Summary
The Power System/Application Software Engineer is responsible for interpreting and analyzing power system studies, power quality analysis, conceptual design, and system expansion.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Senior analyst for power system modeling and simulation
- Developing new analysis modules for smart grid applications
- Ensure products are completed on time and according to corporate quality standards
- Evaluate new technologies and software products to determine feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities within company products
- Facilitate communication upward and across product team including product status, justifications for variances and technical information (architecture, design and implementation objectives)
- Work with other executives to plan and establish product goals and development strategies
- Provide leadership to software development teams and mentor junior staff
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
- Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment
Qualifications
- Industrial power system experience
- Power system modeling and analysis capability
- Experience with machinery and dynamic analysis
- Proficiency in modeling and analysis for industrial and distribution power systems
- Strong analytical skills for use in response to technical queries from customers
- Computer programming skills
- Ability to critically evaluate and troubleshoot complex problems
- Thorough knowledge of industry practices and procedures
- Ability to effectively participate on multi-disciplinary teams
- Well-organized and detailed oriented professional, with strong verbal and written communication skills
Education
- 5+ years experience in power system modeling and Industrial Power Systems
- Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- PE License is preferred
