Power/Testing/Software Electrical Engineer

Position Summary

In this position, the engineer is responsible for development and testing the software. Having the knowledge of electrical engineering, programming with C++/C# and Microsoft Access/SQL databases is required. In addition, engineer will be involved in helping with industrial and distribution system projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To perform power system analysis and design
  • Develop software additions and extensions to ETAP - a sophisticated power system analysis and simulation software
  • To support ETAP development activities including product support, software testing, and other related tasks
  • Assist with requirements, development, user interface development, testing, architecture, design, scheduling and software engineering tasks
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, vendors, and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
  • Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in electrical power systems
  • 2+ years experience in software development
  • Knowledge in C++, MFC and C# .NET, TCP/IP, Sql Server
  • GUI development with C++ and .NET
  • Solid understanding of object oriented design and programming
  • Working knowledge of ETAP Enterprise Solution
  • Capability to utilize standard engineering and mathematical concepts and principles in the design, coding, and testing of software components
  • Proficiency in modeling and analysis for industrial and distribution power systems
  • Familiarity with Power Management System concepts and applications
  • Use of software configuration management and issue tracking methods
  • Computer Skills related to creation of reports and presentations in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills for use in response to technical queries from customers/clients
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks with multiple deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work closely and cooperatively with other engineers, developers, senior management, and others
  • Ability to problem solve through creative and analytical thinking
  • Ability to grasp new technologies and react to changes in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven record of completing projects on time and to specification

Education

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering (required)
  • B.S. Computer Science (desired)
  • M.S. in Power System Engineering (desired)
