Senior Sales Engineer

Position Summary

The Senior Sales Engineer (SE) is a customer-focused technical sales professional who provides high level pre sales support and guidance to customers and collaborates with regional / territory teams to recommend and develop appropriate customer solution offerings. The SE acts in a consultative fashion and is looked to as an expert in his/her field by the account team and customers. The successful candidate will utilize exceptional technical knowledge to recommend product solutions to potential customers while cultivating new relationships and maintaining current customer relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-sales assistance for sales opportunities to customers and partners. Including installations, troubleshooting and training of ETAP products
  • Identify technical requirements within new and existing account opportunities
  • Refine and research technical requirements of the opportunity
  • Develop relationships with technical team of customer(s) in order to better understand technical needs and the value proposition
  • Define solution options and articulate the benefits of ETAP products
  • Act as an interface between the Sales organization and technical staff to resolve outstanding issues
  • Assist in closing business in regional territories through field visits to major account prospects
  • Perform product demonstrations and presentations at customer and partner sites, company road show’s and events
  • Provide reporting and feedback on customer accounts and field activities to Sales, Product Management and Engineering
  • Work closely with customers in the design and implementation/integration of ETAP products
  • Maintain a broad-level of knowledge of industry trends and how ETAP products add value
  • Create whitepapers in conjunction with Marketing
  • Work with Engineering resources on an as needed basis for customer specific questions and/or deployments
  • Set and manage expectations with senior management and team members
  • Travel throughout the region
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • 7 + years of relevant experience in electrical power systems
  • 5 years professional selling experience in high-tech or service related industry
  • Proven track record of consistently exceeding corporate objectives and quotas
  • Experience of financial and commercial contract negotiations
  • Capability to utilize standard engineering and mathematical concepts and principles in the design, coding, and testing of software components
  • Working knowledge of ETAP Enterprise Solution
  • Proficiency in modeling and analysis for industrial and distribution power systems
  • Familiarity with Power Management System concepts and applications
  • Strong analytical skills for use in response to technical queries from customers/clients
  • Computer Skills related to creation of reports and presentations in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint

Education

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering (power elective courses required)
  • M.S. in Power System Engineering (preferred)
  • PE license a plus
