Arc Flash Analysis
3-Day Workshop
class

This hands-on workshop is tailored for learning the fundamentals required to run an Arc Flash analysis. The topics for discussion include the basics of setting up the one-line diagrams with all the different types of protective devices, how to setup a study and a full discussion of the short-circuit calculations required for Arc Flash.

The course also includes many exercises and discussions about ETAP Star (protective device coordination and selectivity program) and how it interfaces with the Arc Flash program.

This seminar covers all the analysis methods available from NFPA 70E 2004 and IEEE 1584 2002 standards, and it will provide the student with a detailed understanding about how to perform Arc Flash studies and most importantly how to interpret and apply the analysis results in a safety program.

The workshop covers many potential arc flash conditions that need to be considered, but which require in depth knowledge of the standards to implement. The course includes audio visual aids like videos, Power Point presentations and exercises which help to explain the arc flash phenomenon for low, medium and high voltage applications. Most students will be capable of setting up and running arc flash studies by the end of this three-day course.

Topics
  • ETAP Overview
  • Short-Circuit Analysis
  • Protective Device Libraries & Star (Device Coordination & Selectivity) Analysis
  • Arc Flash Analysis
Who Should Attend
This workshop is tailored for those who are planning to perform an Arc Flash study or those interested in understanding the Arc Flash results for implementation in a safety program. Typical audiences for this seminar include: Facility Safety Managers, Protection Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Plant Electricians and anyone who is involved with Arc Flash safety related issues.
