Remote Control Auto-Simulator integrates real-time system operating data with the active control signals and your ETAP model to provide an advance testing, verification, and pre-implementation module within ETAP Real-Time.

A number of practical issues arise when a control strategy is implemented in practice. These include discrete-time modeling and control, time delay, model simulation, and experimental verification. Verification of active control algorithms prior to their implementation to actual system has always been a time-consuming and costly process.

ETAP Real-Time Remote Control Auto-Simulator is designed to verify the effectiveness of any proposed active control algorithm and to provide a pre-implementation simulation base to test the functions required for practical utilization via a real-time system model. This is achieved through customizable mapping of control device functions (i.e., Generator’s Governor, Exciter, etc.) in order to calculate the device setting and continuously simulating the overall system response.

The simulation results can be displayed on the one-line diagram and sent back to the master control system. In addition, the simulator provides the tool for overriding control states coming from the system to simulate pre-defined emergency states. Alarm and warning signals can be generated and sent back to the operator workstation.

ETAP Real-Time Remote Control Auto Simulator not only alleviates the complexities of traditional verification procedures for active control in power systems but also raises the possibility to perform parameter uncertainty tests by changing the parameters inside of the simulator. In addition, it provides a platform to verify any control algorithm implemented in digital control system by the integrated verification procedures.
