Plugging USB ETAP Key for the First Time 1. Plug the USB ETAP key in one of the USB ports. The system automatically detects the new hardware, generates a message and launches the 'Found New Hardware' Wizard. 2. Select 'Yes, this time only' on the Wizard and click on the 'Next >' button as shown on Figure 1.1 3. Select 'Install the software automatically (Recommended)' and click on the 'Next >' button as shown on Figure 1.2. The system takes a few seconds to look for the proper file as shown on Figure 1.3. 4. Click on ‘Browse’ button on the ‘Files Needed’ dialog box as shown on Figure 1.4.
Note that for Windows 2000 the windows/setup is slightly different and the path should be C:\WINNT\system32\drivers folder. |

5. Once the USB ETAP key driver installation is complete, a window shown on Figure 1.5 is generated. This means ETAP should be able to detect the key and ETAP should launch successfully. 6. Also, the Device Manager list should show ‘1-Wire Devices – USB Host Adapter for 1-Wire Network’ as shown on Figure 1.6. |

Troubleshooting the USB ETAP Key If ETAP failed to detect the USB key, go to the Device Manager (Start menu| Control Panel | System | Hardware | Device Manager) and check if the key is displayed as shown on Figure 1.5. If there is a USB Device entry with a yellow question mark as shown on Figure 1.7 that indicates an installation problem. At this point there are two options:
