ETAP PSMS Real-Time Expands to
Wind Power Industry at Colorado Green Wind Farm

OTI has successfully installed and implemented the ETAP Power System Monitoring & Simulation (PSMS) for GE Wind Energy at the Colorado Green Wind Farm facility.

ETAP PSMS is an intelligent energy management application used to monitor, simulate, control, and optimize electrical power systems based on real-time data.

The implementation of ETAP PSMS includes advanced monitoring and real-time simulation. The Colorado Green Wind Farm benefits from complete electrical monitoring of two main substations, including estimated wind power generation per turbine via real-time state estimation, monitoring of total facility generation, and the ability to perform simulations such as power flow and short circuit analyses.

Total of Nuclear Facilities Using ETAP Increased to 65% of All U.S. Nuclear Plants

OTI welcomes the Dresden and Quad Cities nuclear plants as they have recently standardized on ETAP. The total nuclear facilities using ETAP has increased to 65% of all U.S. operational nuclear plants. In addition to the nuclear utilities in the U.S., ETAP is used on a nuclear level by numerous consulting firms including Bechtel, Black & Veatch, Framatome, Sargent and Lundy, and Washington Group. In fact, Framatome ANP GmbH in Germany is currently using ETAP to design the largest grass roots nuclear generation plant in Europe.

The nuclear version of ETAP is used by government facilities including Bechtel SAIC and Savannah River Company. ETAP is also being used in other countries such as South Korea and Canada. Nuclear utility companies include Ontario Power Generation, Bruce Power Operating Company, and Korea Electric Power Company.

FAQ: How do you assign a retrofit trip device?

How do you assign a retrofit trip device?
In ETAP 5.0 library, trip units are assigned to low voltage circuit breakers based on the published manufacturer data. Trip units with retrofit kits may be used with a variety of breakers, thereby creating a unique breaker-trip unit combination. The exercise in the FAQ document shows how to assign a trip unit to a low voltage circuit breaker for such unique cases.
