ETAP ILS Foils Tripped Loads Due to Geckos

No industrial facility is 100 percent immune from power disturbances. The copper/gold open pit mine operated by PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara was no exception. Located in Sumbawa, Indonesia, the mine’s rainforest setting poses many challenges to the power system.

These challenges include everything from excessive rain, monsoon winds, frequent lightning, as well as another surprising source: Indonesia’s large population of geckos.

Module Spotlight: Wind Turbine Generator

OTI has announced the availability of the ETAP Wind Turbine Generator module. Built on top of ETAP 5.5, this packaged offering meets the design, simulation, analysis and real-time monitoring needs unique to the wind power industry.

The Wind Turbine Generator module is an important addition to ETAP. It allows users to design and monitor one turbine, or a thousand, all in a highly flexible graphic interface optimized for both simulation and analysis.

In addition, users have the capability to set up unique libraries of generator and wind characteristics specific to their sites, as well as place simulated disturbances to view the impact on the wind farm to model alternative turbine placement, the installation of protective devices and other corrective actions. FAQ: How Do You Send ETAP Project Files?

One of OTI’s highest priorities is providing a first-rate customer support team to assist ETAP users with technical questions. Sometimes, to answer a question satisfactorily, the OTI technical support team may need to see the project files associated with the technical question. To learn how to send project files to the OTI technical support team, or any other ETAP user for that matter, click here to view this FAQ.
