OTI has announced that ETAP 5.5.1, a major release of its enterprise software solution for power system analysis, is available in Chinese and Japanese. These new versions have received complete language overhauls, offering not only a Chinese and Japanese user interface, but also Chinese and Japanese help files, help lines, user guides, messages, warnings, and more.

With the addition of the Chinese and Japanese versions, OTI makes it even more accessible for power system designers, engineers, and managers to use ETAP to simulate, plan, design, analyze, optimize, monitor, and operate electric power systems in their native language.

ETAP 5.5 delivers dozens of new enhancements that make power system analysis significantly faster and easier, including the ability to graphically animate power system response directly on one-line diagrams. Click to read the full story.

OTI Launches ETAP Webinar Series

OTI has kicked off a new webinar series. These online seminars allow many participants in multiple locations to see and hear a presentation from their own desks. To attend an ETAP webinar, all you need is a computer with Internet access and a separate telephone line to hear the presenter speak. ETAP webinars are typically 60 minutes in length.

Our next Webinar will be providing an overview of ETAP Arc Flash on September 20th at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time.

Power System Engineering Training in November

OTI’s five-day Power System Engineering course returns to Irvine, California November 6-10. This hands-on workshop provides the skills, knowledge, and techniques necessary to become proficient in ETAP to conduct power system studies, from modeling to analysis. The purpose of this workshop is to develop a thorough understanding of ETAP’s capabilities and analytical techniques to solve a variety of practical problems. The workshop topics include:

Short-Circuit (ANSI & IEC)
Arc Flash
Load Flow
Panel Systems
Motor Acceleration

Star (Device Coordination & Selectivity)
Transient Stability
Harmonics
User-Defined Dynamic Models
Cable Systems
Underground Raceway Systems
Optimal Power Flow

Module Spotlight: Short-Circuit Analysis

The ETAP Short-Circuit Analysis module takes the guess-work out of short circuit studies in three simple steps. The module automatically applies all ANSI or IEC factors and ratios, compares calculated duties to manufacturer published data, and provides alarms and warnings for overstressed devices.

ETAP Short-Circuit Analysis has been enhanced in the latest release, ETAP 5.5, with the capability to determine short circuit duty of tie circuit breakers based on the maximum through fault current.

In addition, users have the capability to observe and analyze deviations from nominal values and relay mis-operations. The graphical interface makes setup easy and all historical tests can be retrieved for plotting and comparison.

FAQ

Is the ETAP License Manager compatible with earlier releases?
ETAP 5.5 comes with the new License Administrator and Wizard, which allows users to maintain optimal productivity and receive the greatest value from ETAP resources by monitoring and administering access to your ETAP license. Click here to view this FAQ which explains what steps are necessary to apply this feature to earlier ETAP releases.

FAQ

Is there a separate network license key for LAN and WAN?
ETAP 5.5 does distinguish if a network license key is used on a LAN or WAN network. Click here to view this FAQ for details.
