ETAP Real-Time Implemented at Largest Steel Manufacturer
Jinan Iron and Steel Group Corporation (Jigang), the largest manufacturer of steel plates in China, has implemented ETAP Real-Time for power system monitoring and predictive simulation.
ETAP interfaces with the plant’s newly installed SCADA system and provides real-time power system monitoring data to Jigang’s Energy Control and Management Center. ETAP Power System Monitoring and Simulation (PSMS) monitors and tracks energy usage and distribution in the system, and determines the appropriate system response to a variety of changes and fluctuations in the electrical network. It monitors electrical and physical parameters, loading and generation levels, network topology, and control logics. ETAP PSMS software also determines the source of potential problems and recommends corrective actions to avoid power system interruptions.
ETAP power systems software is used by undergraduate and graduate level students at engineering schools around the world. In 2009, 35 educational institutions implemented ETAP Power Labs.
As a technology leader, Operation Technology, Inc. (OTI) is committed to not only providing essential learning tools for power engineering students of today, but also to help launch the careers of the power engineers of tomorrow. OTI continues to show commitment and support by having thus far offered educational licenses to over 450 colleges and universities worldwide, including ETAP Power Labs, continuing education and training events, a state-of-the-art learning center at their corporate head quarters in Irvine, as well as distance learning programs.
The Arc Flash webinar covers customizing arc flash hazard labels. An ETAP Engineer demonstrates step-by-step instructions on how to customize and link arc flash labels using Microsoft Word.
The cable system modules have been enhanced with the addition of new standards and cable layers. The webinar discusses thermal calculations for underground duct banks and direct burial, ICEA P-54-440, IEEE 339, British Standard 7671, along with the new Ampacity Derating IEC 60634 standard.
