ETAP Smart Grid also includes a fault location tool that utilizes the information taken from sequential event recorders and determines all possible locations and types of faults and/or malfunctions that may have resulted in the chain of events as seen by the power system. The fault location tool can provide operators with a better understanding as to the location of the fault such that the maintenance crew can be dispatched to restore service more efficiently rather than have the maintenance crew pinpoint the fault location by trial and error.
